Daniel C. Ehrhart was a mechanic's apprentice from Altoona, Pa. In July of 1864, having heard that "the Rebels were again invading our state," he enlisted to Company G of the 1st Battalion of Pennsylvania Infantry, a hundred-day regiment organized in July 1864. The company was posted at Scranton, Pa., "guarding conscripts, volunteers, and substitutes." Upon the expiration of the term of his service, he re-enlisted to join the 15th Regiment of Pennsylvania Cavalry. He fought in Georgia, Tennessee...
